Maiden Pinks [ Dianthus Deltoides ] is the only widespread native wild pink, and it's vivid pink flowers on sprawling stems make an excellent ground cover and is used in borders, edgings, and rock gardens. Pink, lightly fragrant blooms on mat forming evergreen plants, appear in late May and persist until July.

Maiden Pinks [ Dianthus Deltoides ] is very adaptable and easy to grow from seed. Unlike many perennials, the plant blooms from seed the first year, and its bloom season is 8 to 10 weeks long. The long, narrow, pointed leaves are grey-green and have hairy edges. Shear the plant after flowering and provide winter protection.

The plant forms a dense mat and can be used as a ground cover.

This plant attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
